Long Stratton 0 Reepham Town 1 - 5th Feb

The disappointing start to 2011 continues for the first team with one win in 5 now and a second successive home defeat as Reepham won thanks to an early strike. Our Senior Cup journey came to an abrupt end with defeat at the first hurdle away at Horsford. It means we can trot out the concentrate on the league adage but not for at least a week as next week we travel to Wells in the Mummery Cup.

Long Stratton Res. 0 Waveney 4

04/09/10

At a risk of repeating ourselves, the scoreline was again harsh on the reserves. For a good half hour we held the upper hand, two lapses in concentration cost us goals in the first half yet we were still well in the game. Richard Leather put over when wll placed and Paul Folkard hit the bar but another sloppy goal against us and we were 3-0 down, Waveney completing the rout in time added on...Man of the Match: Jimmy Dale

Long Stratton 5 Hindringham 1

28/08/10

A 3rd straight win took us to the top of the table in what was our best performance of the season. James Barnes and Jim Edwards were missing, Stephen Blunt and Shaun Flint came into the starting line-up. The defence deserve credit, the back four is gelling nicely and this was an assured performance across the entire back line. Plenty of on the pitch communication was asked for pre-match by the gaffers and it was clearly evident. Club captain Kaine Challen and player/manager David Robinson drove the team on from the back. Adam Solley and Blunt knitted things together nicely in midfield and Andy Harvey and Flint were a constant threat up top for the Reds. The goals came from Mark Whitmore, David Robinson getting on the end of a Challen free-kick, Flint hit two, one being a penalty and Harvey got on the end of a great pass from Flint to smash the ball home. This was a game we dropped 2 points in last term so it was good to banish that memory on the back of a great team performance. We can now enjoy the cup games over the next few weeks and hopefull make progess in those...something we were unlucky with last season. Man of the Match: Stephen Blunt

Long Stratton Res. 3 South Walsham 1

28/08/10

A first win of the season for the reserves, another good performance full of endeavour. After going 1-0 down Ben Cussons powered a header home from a beautiful ball from young Toby Skinner. Ryan Millington (left) capped a strong display with a brilliant finish to make it 2-1, the 16 year old was a real thorn in the side of Walsham's defence all afternoon. Craig Ball hooked home Stratton's third from close range...Man of the Match: Ryan Millington

Long Stratton Res. 0 Mattishall Res. 4

25/08/10

The reserves went down to a strong Mattishall side 4-0 in driving rain. The first half was a very even affair with Mattishall going ahead through a bizzare own goal, Ben Stearman recieving a late shout cushioned a header back towards goal and the ball crept into the corner. Still, Stratton's young side put together some good moves but the final ball was just missing. Mattishall assumed control in the second half whilst at the other end the lively Paul Folkard came close on a couple of occasions to reducing the deficit...Man of the Match: Ben Stearman

Wymondham Town 1 Long Stratton 3

24/08/10

An excellent victory in this local derby maintains our 100% start to the season and leaves us 2nd in the table. We led 1-0 at the break Andrew Harvey scoring against his former club. Wymondham equalised early in the second period, Chaz Sizeland making an excellent stop from the initial shot but the ball found the net from the rebound. Stratton looked the more likely to win the game with Harvey twice missing gilt edged chances to put us ahead. Adam Solley and Kaine Challen were winning the vital battles and it was sub Shaun Flint who brilliantly carved open a chance and took it in the 84th minute. We still had time to go 3-1 up, Flint slotting home a penalty as the home side were reduced to ten men with a red card for their centre-half. Another 3 points dug out with no shortage of grit and guile. That's 23 wins in 32 games in charge for our first team manager David Robinson (left) now, in a time where players tend get all the headlines big credit goes to Robbo and his staff for the good start to the season...Man of the Match: Kaine Challen

South Walsham Res. 4 Long Stratton Res. 2

19/08/10

A game marred by controversial decisions by the man in black saw the Reserves crash 4-2. Shaun Flint had equalised an early Walsham goal and the score remained 1-1 up until just before the hour mark, two good penalty shouts for the visitors were waved away and despite being on top Stratton conceeded a goal against the run of play and were then victims of a very harsh penalty award and a straight red-card for Jimmy Dale. The pen was converted from the rebound after Wayne Manser had done well to save the initial kick. Walsham added a 4th before Flint reduced the arrears late on. Man of the Match: Toby Skinner

Long Stratton 2 Caister 1

17/08/10

Ben Cussons scored the second half winner to give the Reds the winning start to the campaign they wanted. In the first half Caister scored a bizzare own goal, the defender under pressure from debutant Jim Edwards fired past his own keeper. Caister equalised in the second half and for a spell really took the game to the hosts but we weathered the storm and Cussons was on hand to slot home the winner.

Long Stratton Ladies 1 Wymondham Ladies 1

08/09/10

The Ladies came within a minute of recording an excellent win against a team from the division above. A Nadia Child goal in the first half looked set to give Stratton the win, Emily Watts went on to hit the post for the Reds but in the 89th minute a rare Wymondham attack saw the grab the equaliser. Woman of the Match was Summer Moore. Jenny Head (left) also had a fine game.
