Jul 25th :: LONG STRATTON LADIES 1 STALHAM LADIES 1...A superb performance from the Stratton girls in their first ever game. Stalham, an established Division 1 team took the lead with 20 minutes remaining but the Reds never gave up and were rewarded when another excellent run from Emily Watts saw her fouled in the box and she stepped up to slam in the spot-kick. Impressive displays all round, Wishing Tree Shop woman of the match was shared between Natasha Flatt, Jenny Head and Gill Wood...
Jul 22nd :: FRIENDLY RESULTS...Both Senior sides remain unbeaten in pre-season to date. The first team overcame a strong challenge from a good Harleston side. GOals from Grahame Bartlett, Ben Cussons and James Barnes securing a 3-2 win. The reserves drew 0-0 against Hempnall A in front of an amazing crowd of 129, a brilliant attendance for a friendly. A tight game between two youthful sides saw no quarter given but not a shred of dirtiness, neither side looked like breaking the deadlock as the spoils were shared...
Jul 17th :: PRE-SEASON UPDATE... Well the pre-season signing on "circus" is nearly over! We are pleased to announce we have kept all of our talented squad despite much interest from other clubs. This speaks volumes for a club which has come a long way in a short time. We are delighted to have added a couple of quality signings by concentrating on certain positions we felt we could add strength in depth in rather than just playing the numbers game that some clubs seem to play. So we have an even stronger squad than last term (difficult to remember a stronger LSFC squad than this one). Our biggest and best signing could well turnout to be arguably the best coach in Norfolk with us all season in Bobby Briggs. The managment structure is better than ever with not 1 but 3 managers overlooking the first team who have all won division titles at this level as players. One thing we are very proud of is retaining our local lads who have come through our youth teams and are the beating heart of the Red shirt, this is very near and dear to the clubs heart...and this is continuing in our reserve team with 7 or 8 Stratton boys 18 and under making good progress in pre-season and again reaping the benefits of our excellent training sessions led by Bobby. We feel the benefit of players staying loyal to Stratton will be mutual to players and club alike to grow to its full potential and aid both parties development. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank guys such as Kevin Gristwood, Paul Gibbins, Steve Race and David Ball who have been outstanding in their work efforts for the club already and we are only 2 week in... With the fitness levels rising (along with the banter!) things are looking bright, some might say bright red!...
Jul 17th :: SIGNINGS...We have received some brilliant news in the past 24 hours with our influential midfielder James Barnes putting pen to paper. We have some more potential new singings to announce next week. The team captain's have also been announced for 2010/11. Adam Solley to continue as first team captain, Jonny Saunders will be the Reserve team skipper. Jennifer Head will captain our Ladies team...
Jul 16th :: FRIENDLY WINS...Both our senior sides recorded good wins last week, the first team really fired on all cylinders in the second half to beat a decent CEYMS side 4-1, two debutants impressing with goals Andrew Harvey and Lee Moxon. Ben Cussons and Shaun Flint also netting. The Reserves beat Palgrave 6-1, again it was the second half where the damage was done with 5 goals. 2 from 16 year old debutant Ryan Millington, a Craig Ball brace, Dale Wallis and Steve Goddard goals completed the rout. Unfortunately Ricky Braddon suffered a ruptured achilles tendon in the second half and will be out of action until the turn of the year at least...
Jul 6th :: CHRIS AUSTIN VICE-PRESIDENT...We are delighted to announce that Chris Austin has accepted the esteemed position of vice-president of Long Stratton Football Club. Chris served as chairman with distinction for 7 years before stepping down last summer for a well deserved break. He along with Vic Harwin are largely credited with turning round the club's fortunes both on and off the pitch in recent history. Apart from his time spent as chair, he has shown the club unstinting support at games and behind the scenes along with excellent sponsorship backing from the Chip Inn which continues to this day...

Jun 29th :: AGM...At last night's AGM all the club officers were voted to remain in all their current positions. A clear reflection of a very happy ship. Chris Austin has stepped down from the committee but pledged his continued support as a sponsor and spectator in 2010/11. The club finances are healthy, we have 7 teams wearing the Red & Black next season, from under-10 level up to men and women's teams. Jun 4th :: NEW RESERVE TEAM MANAGERS...We are delighted to announce our reserve team managers for next season will be Darren Flatt & Steve Race. The pair, both 38 will be co-managers. Neither need any introuduction to Reds supporters. Daz Flatt returns 'home' to the club he spent 15 years with as a player and now moves into his first management role. Flatt is relishing the job ahead.."I'm delighted to be back at LSFC, a club I love and I'm really looking forward to the challenge of getting the reserves moving up the table, it's a great opportunity for me and Steve". Daz is no stranger to Long stratton Reserves having won an unprecedented hat-trick of reserve player of the year awards in the early 2000's before his retirement. He also has the unique record of the only Long Stratton player to win every single playing award at the club during his time at Manor Road. Race, in his 10th year of managing teams at various levels said "We will be looking at strengthening in certain areas of the pitch and I'm sure we can begin to establish ourselves in this division".
