Just a few lines to update all involved at the club. First things first I guess is to wish all a Happy, Healthy and Successful New Year. The progress of all teams can be viewed on a daily basis through the various "team sites", but a broad overview may be useful at this time of the year. As a club we have had a decent half year with The 1st team in the top half of Div 1, having recently shown some good form by taking 3 points off the top of the table Loddon but then despite hitting the woodwork 4 time and playing well lost all 3 points to Stalham away last Sat. Nevertheless the team is still poised for a good or even very good season. The Reserves currently stand in top place in Div 6 and have shown great improvement and had an excellent run of results. There is still a lot to be done to finish in the promotion spots but so far so good. The Ladies are also basking in top spot in their 7 a side League and are looking good to win the league. Next year they may move up to 11 a side so anyone interested please contact any club member for further info. The criteria is to be over 16 & female. Any cross dressers will be considered if they can guarrantee 40 goals a season and have their own lipstick. Both the U11 & U16 teams are currently in the bottom half of their Divs but I am more than pleased that we are providing football in these age groups and doing our bit as a local club to provide sporting activity, skill training and a disciplined environment for all these lads. Much credit must go to the Guys & Gals who give up their time to this end. Having taken youth teams into Europe myself (Holland & Germany), I can confirm that many European nations think that we in England concentrate too much on winning and not enough on technique at these early ages. When you compare some of the players in the Premiership you may have to agree. This coming weekend both the 1st team (Sat 12.1.08, 2.00 p.m.) and the Ladies (Sun 13.1.08 Noon K.O.) are at home. All good support welcome. Some time soon the mens & U16 will have to move to the pitch on the West of the Playing fields. Sounds rather grand, but you wont need Sat Nav to find it. Its the one without undersoil heating. Future developements & discussions towards other new pitches, new changing and training facilities are ongoing. I have recently had meetings with both the F.A. & Parish council towards this but believe me there are so many considerations, political changes, levels of authority and lack of available land (and not forgetting maybe 500K in monetory terms) that it may take as long as the Stratton by-pass. Finally I would like to thank Steve for his work on this site. It never fails to impress all who visit & I have no doubt that if we were in a "Best Website League" we would walk it.
