Pre season is upon us and things are looking good.
A 1st class coach in Bobby Briggs has been secured for the season, Bob done a fantastic job pre season with saq last season, but we did not get to see Bob in full flow with his vast array of ball based drills and games. With our committee looking at extra flood lighting to give us more room to train, this season's training promises to be better than ever.
On Reflection I think we can call our 1st season together a success and now its time to have another assault on division one as we have unfinished business!
The 2009/10 season saw us go from a side that finished 3rd from bottom to a side that missed winning the title on goal difference last season. Building a quality side capable of winning things and getting promotions is not done over night, just ask our friends up the road, the best part of 10 seasons to get that Premier place where we would like to progress to. We are hopeful of keeping our talented squad of players and adding that little bit more competion, strength in depth and quality in a few areas that can hopefully give us that little bit extra. With big changes in our Reserves this season it can only see the club grow in strength with two teams aiming for promotion. With players that wont need the first couple of months to gel this season, we will gel from the off! A team spirit now in our camp I've yet to experience at any other club and players who class each and everyone of their team-mates as their mate... could we be progressing ahead of schedule? Well that's open to debate..
With such a good 1st season under our belts some might wonder why I am prepared to stick my neck on the block this season as sole manager when anything other than promotion would be viewed as a backwards step (poison chalice!?).
Well to start with i'm not on my own!
I cannot think of two better people id rather begin this season's journey with than Danny & Wills. With these guys I've two fantastic football people who are as determined as myself, with the watchful eye of Kev Gristwood keeping us all in line, the appointment of a strong reserve management team, the club goes from strength to strength.
With this bunch of players and staff behind me I am up for the challenge of promotion to the premier league, and giving all I have to get us there.....Are you?
